About Emily Wood
As therapists, we are our most valuable tool. I am trained to sit with clients in a therapeutic way to create change in their lives and promote their mental health. It is very important for clients to get a sense of their potential therapist, so please feel free to call me if you have questions about who I am and what I provide.
The most consistent feedback I get from clients and peers is that my ability to connect with people is my most valuable asset. Clients say that I "get" them and they feel understood. They can expect me to work hard to understand their situation and attune to their needs. I am a gentle guide and seek to thoughtfully challenge my clients while helping them feel capable of doing the work of their lives.
Perhaps as a result of my work in social services, I have a keen interest in how we are shaped by our roles, relationships, and experiences and the process of equipping and championing ourselves to make the most of our lives. A native of the Pacific Northwest, in my free time I enjoy being in nature and engage in ongoing education.
I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Washington (credential number LH60713310).
Mental Health Counselor
I operate from a person-centered framework and believe in the fundamental healing power of relationship. This fits well with my eclectic approach that borrows from many theories
- Attachment
- Psychodynamic
- Motivational Interviewing
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
- Trauma Informed Treatment / TF-CBT
I have also completed training and workshops in a number of inter-related areas, specializing in trauma and King Country Recovery Model.
I especially enjoy working with young professionals who may be achievement-oriented, but still feel "stuck" somehow or unsettled in relationships.
